چکیده
ABSTRACT The period-change rate (PCR) of pulsating variable stars is a useful probe changes in their interior structure, and thus evolutionary stages. So far, the PCRs classical Cepheids Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) have been explored limited sample total population these variables. Here, we use template-based method to build observed-minus-computed (O ? C) period diagrams, from which can derive for by taking advantage long time baseline afforded Digital Access Sky Century @ Harvard light curves, combined with additional data Optical Gravitational Lensing Experiment, MAssive Compact Halo Object project, Gaia’s Data Release 2, some cases All-Sky Automated Survey. From an initial 2315 sources, our provides unprecedented 1303 LMC accurate PCRs, largest any single galaxy, including Milky Way. derived are largely compatible theoretically expected values, as computed team using Modules Experiments Stellar Astrophysics code, well similar previous computations available literature. Additionally, five long-period ($P\,\gt\, 50\, \rm {d}$) sources display cyclic behaviour O C clearly incompatible changes. Finally, on basis large positive PCR two first-crossing Cepheid candidates identified.

Multimode Cepheids in the Large Magellanic Cloud - challenges for theory
Data on multimode Cepheids from OGLE-III catalog of the LMC Cepheids are confronted with results from model calculations. Models whose radial mode periods are consistent with observation are not always in agreement with published evolutionary models. Nonradial mode interpretation is considered for the cases of unusual period ratios. The greatest challenge for stellar pulsation theory is explana...
متن کاملUltra-low Amplitude Cepheids in the Large Magellanic Cloud
The MACHO variables of LMC Field 77 that lie in the vicinity of the Cepheid instability strip are reexamined. Among the 144 variables that we identify as Cepheids we find 14 that have Fourier amplitudes < 0.05 mag in the MACHO red band, of which 7 have an amplitude < 0.006mag : we dub the latter group of stars ultra-low amplitude (ULA) Cepheids. The variability of these objects is verified by a...
متن کاملThe Period-luminosity Relation for the Large Magellanic Cloud Cepheids Derived from Spitzer Archival Data
Using Spitzer archival data from the SAGE (Surveying the Agents of a Galaxy’s Evolution) program, we derive the Cepheid period-luminosity (P-L) relation at 3.6, 4.5, 5.8 and 8.0 microns for Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) Cepheids. These P-L relations can be used, for example, in future extragalactic distance scale studies carried out with the James Webb Space Telescope. We also derive Cepheid per...
متن کاملNonlinear Period-Luminosity Relation for the Large Magellanic Cloud Cepheids: Myths and Truths
In this paper, we discuss and examine various issues concerning the recent findings that suggested the observed period-luminosity (P-L) relation for the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) Cepheids is nonlinear. These include (1) visualizing the nonlinear P-L relation; (2) long period Cepheids and sample selection; (3) outlier removal; (4) issues of extinction; (5) nonlinearity of the period-color (P-...
متن کاملNonlinear model pulsations for long-period Cepheids II. Magellanic Cloud Cepheids
Nonlinear, radiative models for long–period Cepheids in the Magellanic Clouds were constructed and the theoretical light and velocity curves were compared with observations. We assumed a metal content Z = 0.005, and two mass–luminosity M–L relations: one was obtained from stellar evolution calculation with convective overshooting models, and the other, which gives an even larger L for the same ...
